This course is designed to offer students not only an introduction to, but also a working knowledge of, eDiscovery and the importance that eDiscovery serves in all aspects of the legal field.  The class focuses on understanding what is eDiscovery, how to manage and prepare for eDiscovery, best practices in the area of eDiscovery, and the critical role that a paralegal plays in ensuring that eDiscovery is properly managed and used in civil litigation for the benefit of the client.    This course will provide a baseline understanding to successfully preserve, collect and review electronic data, and a  foundation to support on-boarding ESI.  Upon successful completion of the Final Exam students will also obtain an eDiscovery Certification Badge through ACEDs.

This course prepares the student to work in a law office through instruction in legal terminology, law office procedures, and the preparation of legal documents. The student creates documents on pleading paper using MS Word and Judicial Council forms. (Prerequisites: Keyboarding speed 25 WPM, Grade of “C-” or better in DA123. Prereq. for L110B: L110A grade of C* or better.)
