This course provides a general understanding of the essential principles of contract law, the manner in which contracts are formed, and the elements that must be present for a contract to be valid and enforceable.  The student learns the rights and obligations of the parties involved and remedies that are available when contracts are breached.

This course covers major aspects of employment law with an emphasis on discrimination, wrongful termination, and workers’ compensation issues.  The student learns the procedures to affect claims. 

The course will cover major aspects of Administrative Law with an emphasis on the basic area, concerns of administrative law, and the structure of administrative agencies.   Other topics include: Agency discretion, rules and regulations, investigations, informal, formal proceedings, and judicial review. Students will also learn about the various administrative law positions for paralegals in the private sector and with the government.

Students will also learn about the various administrative law positions for paralegals in the private sector and with the government. 

This course is designed to offer students not only an introduction to, but also a working knowledge of, eDiscovery and the importance that eDiscovery serves in all aspects of the legal field.  The class focuses on understanding what is eDiscovery, how to manage and prepare for eDiscovery, best practices in the area of eDiscovery, and the critical role that a paralegal plays in ensuring that eDiscovery is properly managed and used in civil litigation for the benefit of the client.    This course will provide a baseline understanding to successfully preserve, collect and review electronic data, and a  foundation to support on-boarding ESI.  Upon successful completion of the Final Exam students will also obtain an eDiscovery Certification Badge through ACEDs.
