This course is designed to offer students not only an introduction to, but also a working knowledge of, eDiscovery and the importance that eDiscovery serves in all aspects of the legal field.  The class focuses on understanding what is eDiscovery, how to manage and prepare for eDiscovery, best practices in the area of eDiscovery, and the critical role that a paralegal plays in ensuring that eDiscovery is properly managed and used in civil litigation for the benefit of the client.    This course will provide a baseline understanding to successfully preserve, collect and review electronic data, and a  foundation to support on-boarding ESI.  Upon successful completion of the Final Exam students will also obtain an eDiscovery Certification Badge through ACEDs.

This course is designed to help the student learn legal analysis and writing skills. Clarity, logical organization, precision, and conciseness are developed through lectures, class participation, practice materials, and writing assignments. The student learns how to read and analyze legal cases and materials. The process of legal writing, including planning, organization, and structure, is covered. The student composes interoffice memorandum and other applicable legal documents.
